Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler injections have become a popular choice for patients looking to reduce existing wrinkles and/or to add volume to their face.

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the human body and absorbs moisture to keep skin hydrated for a youthful appearance. Unfortunately as we age, the skin loses it's hyaluronic acid, and combined with other factors including sunlight exposure and diet, this can lead to lines and wrinkles forming on the face.

How does it work?

The Juvederm Ultra range of dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid. By injecting into the skin, we can replenish the previously lost Hyaluronic Acid and once again encourage the absorption of moisture for a youthful appearance.

As we age, our lips can thin and lose their youthful appearance. Juvederm Ultra can be used to add volume and definition to the lips.

Will it hurt?

Prior to your treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the area being injected. In addition, the Juvederm range also contain a local anaesthetic to further reduce any sensitivity. Patients do say that filler treatment is more uncomfortable than Botox® however the anaesthetic really helps.

When do I see results and how long does it last?

Unlike Botox® which takes 4-14 days to take full effect, the effect of dermal filler is instantaneous. It is possible, especially around the lips, that you can experience a normal swelling which resolves after 2-3 days. Dermal Filler treatment lasts a long time, in the skin it can last around 1 year, and in the lips around 6 months. As Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occuring in the body, the body breaks it down naturally over time, and it can be replenished by continued treatment to maintain a youthful appearance.
